MISSION + VALUES

Follow…Love…Do.

To be transformed by the Holy Spirit to FOLLOW Jesus, LOVE people, and DO good.

CORE VALUES

AUTHENTICITY

Truthful, vulnerable, accountable. We are encouraged to come as we are, without pretense, and are free to ask questions, doubt and confess our shortcomings.

HUMILITY

Teachable, servant leaders. We put others above our own needs. Humility makes it possible to serve together, shoulder-to-shoulder.

TEAMWORK

We are stronger when we are together. We share authority and responsibility, and we believe in lining up leaders according to their giftings…not simply our own needs.

GENEROSITY

We let the Holy Spirit shape our management of time, talent and treasure. His plans always exceed our expectations.

ASPIRATIONAL VALUES

NewSong has also identified several aspirational values; ones which we hope to develop into core values over the next few years.

GRACE & TRUTH

Courage to balance both values, as Jesus did (John 1:14), so that we may speak truthfully in love with proper compassion and accountability.

COMMON GOOD

To work for the good of our city, to identify and meet needs, equipping the church for its mission in the local context in which God has placed us.

SIMPLICITY

To have widely known and clearly delineated “next steps” for any stage of engagement with NewSong, and to limit the number of ministries to those which truly support the mission and heart of the church.

DIVERSITY

To see more diverse ages, ethnicities and socioeconomic backgrounds represented in leadership and the life of the congregation, along with greater gender and intergenerational inclusion.

HOSPITALITY

To see that all are intentionally welcomed and connected, and to foster a virtue of self-giving and interconnected relationships built around invitation into each others’ lives.
