Illness
Childcare workers may summons the mothers of children presenting signs of illness. We realize this can be disappointing but the health and safety of all children is of utmost importance. If you are in doubt about whether or not to bring your child, ask yourself, “Would I want this child interacting with mine?” If the answer is “no” please make alternative childcare arrangements for your child or join us on another day when the child is healthy. |

Ouch Report The "ouch report” is a form that will be filled out for all children that get hurt. It will state the child’s name, teacher's name, as well as, where and what time the incident transpired. It will have a brief description of the incident and what the teacher did to help the child recover. The form will be given to the mom upon arrival. If there is an emergency, the mom will be contacted immediately.
Belongings Please bring only what is needed for your child and label all items! Toys from home are discouraged as they may be lost or damaged and can cause disputes. Comfort items (such as a blanket, pacifier, and stuffed animals) are encouraged if they help your child feel more secure during their class time. |

Drop Off Children may be dropped off at their classrooms at 8:45a.m. Please sign-in each day and regarding your child’s needs please write any special instructions or information for the childcare workers. Please put a name tag on your child and a second one on the child’s diaper bag or other belongings. If your child is potty trained, please be sure to take your child to the restroom before you check them into class. If your child is in the process of potty training and you would like your child taken to the restroom at the break please inform the worker at the check-in table. Please be sure to feed your child before coming to Mom to Mom as only a light snack will be provided. Food and drinks are not allowed for toddlers and preschoolers (with the exception of a labeled sippee cup). Children other than your own cannot participate in Mom to Mom for safety reasons.

Separation Anxiety It is normal for children to feel apprehensive about being left by mom. As the year progresses and children become acquainted with their caregivers, this anxiety should decrease. Please know that we understand that this can be difficult for you as a mom and we will do all we can to help make the adjustment period as short as possible. You can help by reassuring your child briefly, helping him or her get involved with an activity or connect with a caregiver, and leaving promptly. Children will often mirror your emotions so loving words of encouragement and a confident "good-bye" are valuable. If a child is inconsolable, you will be summoned; no child will cry for more than 15 minutes without a mommy, unless instructed otherwise. Please avoid “checking up” on your child. If you have not heard from us, you can assume your child has transitioned well and is enjoying their time. Often times, seeing mom can upset the child again even though they are involved in the class activities. We don’t want you to get “stuck” in the drop off transition again in the middle of Mom to Mom.

Discipline We at Mom to Mom hope that all children enjoy themselves and desire to return each week. In order to keep the learning environment a happy and organized place the childcare workers have been instructed that they may use a designated time-out chair in the event that a child is not following directions in order to maintain a safe environment for all. The time-out will only be as many minutes as the child is old. For example, a 2-year old class will have 2 minute time-outs, a 3-year old class will have 3 minute time-outs and the 4 & 5 year-old class will have 4 minute time-outs. If a situation arises that a child is a danger to themselves or other children and a time-out has not corrected the situation, the mom will be summoned to handle the situation as they see fit. All moms will be informed if their child was issued a time-out during class.
Children in Mom to Mom Meetings Your newborn baby may accompany you until 12 weeks, at that time they must transition to the nursery. Feel free to nurse at any time and place you are most comfortable, including your seat (even if you need to take your child from the nursery to do so). |
Pick Up Please be sure to pick up your child promptly after Mom to Mom concludes at 11:30a.m. This provides the childcare workers the needed time to clean up and prepare for the rest of their day.
| Childcare Workers
Our Mom to Mom program regularly has need for workers on a fill-in basis due to illness and vacations. If you know of someone who may be interested in volunteering, please contact the childcare coordinator. Occasionally, we may find ourselves unexpectedly short of childcare workers. In this case, you may be asked to assist in the classrooms. Those requested to serve will be drawn at random and will not be asked to serve more than once during the year. It is our sincere hope that we do not find ourselves in this position and that you will be free to join each and every meeting in its entirety. |
